Job Description / Duties

The Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Vocal Coaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Applied Vocal Coaching to graduate and undergraduate students studying opera, art song, and music theater repertoire, accompany applied voice lessons, accompany performance classes in music theatre and opera, and serve as music director and/or accompanist for one or two productions per year. Knowledge and experience with opera, art song, and music theatre repertoire preferred.


The Opera and Music Theatre program is internationally acclaimed. Alumni are working on Broadway, on national tours, and in major opera houses. The music theater program has been recognized multiple times by Playbill as a “Top Ten” music theater program—programs with the most alumni performing on Broadway in a given season. The voice area at Oklahoma City University has fifteen voice faculty, four vocal coaches, two choral conductors and two stage directors. Degrees include BM and MM degrees in vocal performance and music theater, and MM in Opera Performance.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Master's degree required, earned doctorate preferred. Significant teaching experience required; collegiate level teaching preferred.


The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring students preparing for careers in classical and music theater performance.
