The successful candidate will have applied teaching duties in voice, preferably with experience in both classical and commercial genres. All voice types are invited to apply. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to be able to teach undergraduate courses in commercial music, which could include: studio recording, mixing, music production, sound for visual media and video games, composition, songwriting, commercial music theory and harmony, applied jazz lessons, and leading small/large ensembles.
Participation in departmental, college, university, and professional service is expected, while pursuing and maintaining an active record of creative scholarship/research. The candidate will aid in recruitment, retention and advisement of Department of Music students and work collaboratively within the School of Performing Arts as a performer and educator.
The music department is housed within the ISU College of Arts and Letters. • MFA or other doctoral/terminal degree in a field appropriate to meet qualifications and responsibilities
• Ability to teach and perform classical and commercial applied voice
• Evidence of professional work as a classical and commercial vocalist
• Evidence of artist-level performance ability of classical and popular music styles
• Experience recording original popular/commercial music and/or arrangements for albums, movies, or other published media
• Songwriting, compositional and arranging skills
• Abilities on additional instrument(s), particularly rhythm section instruments
• Recording, mixing, mastering, production skills
• Record of and/or demonstrated potential for leadership through commercial music research and creation in academic or industry settings
• Evidence of strong industry relationships
